When Lydia’s mom reached out and asked me to photograph her daughter, a new Eastern Michigan University graduate, in her cap n gown, I knew this was going to turn out fantastic! I was really excited to work with Lydia!

Lydia just graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a BA in English and she is going to be a high school English teacher. Even though she was a commuter student, we decided to do her photoshoot on campus. I am so glad that we did. This campus is beautiful with its pond, bridges, amphitheater, gorgeous buildings and paths. There was really no better place to finish out her college career than on campus!
The weather was perfect – sunny and cool – a beautiful spring evening. The dress she wore with her gown was pretty – the perfect spring look. We met in one of the visitor parking lots and walked the campus together.
Lydia was a natural in front of the camera! she was so easy to direct. I look forward to the day that she needs professional headshots. My favorite part of our time together was when I spotted the Student Center – the glass windows stretched the length of the building and I knew it would make a magnificent background.
Since it is 2021 and Covid rules in Michigan restrict an in-person ceremony, I am thankful Lydia was able to have this memorable time capturing her as an Eastern Michigan University graduate. Fun fact — I’ve known Lydia for quite a while and I am so thankful to be a small part of this journey of hers.
Best of luck, Lydia!

Our first stop was the pond:

off to the amphitheater:

My favorite place to photograph her at EMU was along the Student Center.

I have always enjoyed Susan’s photography, and with Lydia graduating, I finally had an excuse to experience her gifts first hand! Susan is very laid back, super easy to work with, and Lydia greatly enjoyed her photo shoot. I love the results! Each and every photo was a keeper. Thank you Susan!!
